The app collects nothing
Castroom has no account, no sign in and no server of ours. There is no analytics, no tracking, no crash reporting and no usage data. Nothing about you or what you make leaves your Mac except what you send to a model provider, or to a platform you post to, yourself. Both of those are below.
This website collects one thing
If you type your email address into the form on the home page, it is stored so that you can be told once, when there is something to download. That is the only thing this site stores and the only use it will ever be put to. It is held in Google Cloud Firestore in Australia, it is never sold and never passed on, and asking at the address below removes it.
There are no cookies on this site, no analytics and no tracking. The hosting keeps ordinary web server logs, which include the address you visit from, in the same way every web server does.
Where your work is kept
Everything Castroom makes, the pictures and the words and the record of what was made, is kept in a folder on your own Mac that the app manages. Deleting the app's folder deletes all of it.
Model providers
Castroom sends what you type, and the pictures you attach, to the image and text model providers you choose, using API keys you supply. What each provider does with that is covered by their own privacy policy and terms, not by this one. Your keys are held in the macOS Keychain and are only ever sent to the provider they belong to.
If you post to TikTok or Instagram
Both platforms fetch photos from a URL rather than accepting a file, so Castroom first uploads the pictures you picked to storage run by Castroom's author. They are publicly reachable by anyone with the URL while they are there, and a rule on that storage deletes them after seven days. There is no setting for this, nothing else is uploaded, and the pictures are not kept anywhere else.
- TikTok. Castroom sends the pictures to your own TikTok account's drafts. It never posts. You add the sound and the caption and press post yourself.
- Instagram. Instagram has no draft, so Castroom publishes to the Instagram account you connect. The app says so before it sends, and a send can be cancelled while it is running. Taking a post down afterwards is done in Instagram.
- When you connect an account, Castroom reads its handle and its profile picture, and stores both in the app's folder on your own Mac so it can show you which account is connected. Nothing else about the account is read.
- The handle is also kept in the record of each send, so that a list of what was sent still says where it went after an account is disconnected.
- Each platform's access token is held in the macOS Keychain and is only ever sent to the platform it belongs to. Disconnecting an account removes it.
